ISLE OF MAN TT 2011
Mark was at the 2011 TT for the first time in two years, after missing the 2010 TT due to financial commitments and injury. Riding for the first time a 2010 BMW S1000RR in the Superbike and Superstock races, also the Yamaha R6 in the Supersport races. Mark went out on his first practice session on 30/5/11 at 7.52 on the BMW and went through the Sulby speed trap at 164.00 mph, marks first lap time of 20:43:84 at 109.200mph. In the second session Mark went out on the Yamaha R6, at the Sulby speed trap he was doing 164.500 mph, he then went out on the BMW and at Sulby was doing 180.900 mph, this lap was in 19.24.89 at an average speed of 116.601 beating his first lap. Mark came in after that lap after hitting a blackbird and it was hands on deck to remove all the feathers from the radiator. His final lap on the BMW saw a time of 19:06:63 at an average speed of 118.458, Mark was definitely getting quicker. Unfortunately they found a hole in the radiator due to the collision with a stone. MONSTER ENERGY SUPERSPORT RACE Mark made a great start on the Yamaha R6 going through Sulby at 165.30 his first lap in 18:59:51 with an average speed of 119.198, Mark retired on the second lap due to an incident with another rider, Derek Brien, who unfortunately lost his life, Mark and the team send their condolences to Dereks family. The race was red flagged, Mark did not restart the second race.
ROYAL LONDON 360 SUPERSTOCK RACE Mark went out on the BMW S1000RR for the superstock race, again he did some great times Lap 1 173.900 163.300 120.061 18:51:33 Mark again came in a respectable 20th place. THE MONSTER ENERGY SUPERSPORT RACE 2 The day did not start how everybody wanted a wet track, but after a delayed start, the riders lined up for the race, on the first lap Mark went through Sulby at 165.300 with a lap time of 19:29:61, on the second lap and due to the wet weather conditions Mark came off at Laurel Bank, whilst lying in 10th place and was air lifted to Nobles Hospital, with suspected ankle injuries, Mark was not the only rider to fall foul of the wet conditions and the race was red flagged. On the restart Mark did not compete. Marks ankle was fine but he had aggrevated a knee injury. In the Pokerstars Senior TT Mark lined up with the other riders, but due to the knee injury he retired on the first lap at Ballacrane.
